Vascutouch

What is VascuTouch?

VascuTouch uses very low levels of radiofrequency energy to remove skin tags and eliminate unwanted vascular blemishes such as broken capillaries, spider veins, cherry angiomas, and other small red dots or patches on the skin.

How is the procedure done?

A topical anesthetic cream is first applied. Once numb,  the skin is then cleansed and prepped. A fine tipped sterile probe is placed on the surface of the blemish. The skin is not penetrated. Low level RF and DC current is passed through the probe to the vessel. The blood in the tiny vessel is clotted or coagulated and stops flowing. With proper "post" treatment care the vessel is naturally absorbed into the surrounding tissue and typically within one to four weeks will disappear. Expect some scabbing over the treatment site -- this is normal and an indication that the treatment is effective.

Does it hurt?

There is a 'pinprick' sensation that can be felt. This is lessened to a significant degree with the application of topical anesthetic.

How long does the procedure take?

Even though the topical anesthetic cream is optional, we have found that most patients experience significantly less discomfort when this is applied (especially for procedures around the face). The local anesthetic cream needs to be on for 30-45 min to be effective. The Vacutouch treatment itself takes about 20 min.

What is the 'post' treatment care?

Pay close attention not to disturb the treated vessels for twenty-four hours. Undue stress could cause renewed blood flow and the vessel will not dry up and absorb. With proper care the treated vessel will look darker the next day. This is normal and a good sign that the vessel was properly treated. Topical healing cream and sunscreen is also recommended.

How long is recovery?

We recommend that you avoid sun exposure of the treated area for 1-2 weeks to allow the skin to heal after your VascuTouch treatment. High SPF Sunscreen may be worn during this time. Some patients may notice some scabbing or blistering that will heal within a week or so.  As mentioned above, it will take anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks for healing to occur.

How long does Vascutouch last?

VascuTouch treatments are permanent, though you may develop skin tags or vascular blemishes in other areas.

What are the Vascutouch risks?

Vascutouch does not penetrate the skin nor introduces any chemicals. There is minimal skin reaction and because of the low treatment energy used, the dermis is not affected and scarring or other major reactions are extremely rare.
