Is Juvederm the Right Option for Me?

Thanks to the evolution of medical science, there are several cosmetic treatments for people who want a more youthful, energetic appearance. Juvederm Voluma® XC is one popular example. Juvederm is an FDA-approved injectable gel that can help prevent wrinkles and reduce their appearance.

How Long Do Results Typically Last?

Like many other anti-aging treatments, Juvederm is not a permanent solution. But with a professional application, you can expect the effects to last for up to two years. Your overall health, as well as the amount of times you have received a Juvederm treatment, will affect how long the results last.

When Will the Results Become Visible?

One of the many advantages of Juvederm Voluma® XC is that results are almost instantly noticeable. You will likely be able to return to work and other activities immediately after treatment.

First-time treatments, however, may result in minor yet temporary bruising from the injections. Certain medications may also influence the initial appearance of the results. Be sure to mention any medications or supplements you are taking with your Juvederm physician.

Juvederm sessions usually take about 30 minutes, depending on how much gel is necessary to treat a target area.

Are There Any Side Effects Associated with Juvederm?

As is common with injections, you may experience some minor bruising, as well as swelling and light pain. In rare cases, lumps may form in the treatment area. With the right care, unwanted effects typically disappear within a few days.

Is Juvederm a Suitable Alternative to Botox?

Many of our clients ask how Juvederm compares to Botox. There are a number of differences that could make one or the other more suitable, depending on your goals.

To start, Botox and Juvederm function differently. While Botox stops targeted muscles from contracting, hence removing wrinkles, Juvederm fills the wrinkles with a gel to achieve the desired effect. Because of these differences, Botox results fade faster – meaning you will have to come back every four to six months for follow-up treatments.

There may also be medical advantages to using Juvederm. Your physician can evaluate your health and cosmetic goals to find out if you are a good candidate for Juvederm.

Another option that your physician might recommend is Restalyne. Like Juvederm, Restalyne is composed of hyaluronic acid. It is slightly thicker, and patients report more fill with deeper lines.

Restalyne lasts six to nine months for treating wrinkles around the mouth. It can also address dark circles under the eyes. In these cases, the effects may last up to two years.
